The Dual Burden
Jaruul carries both Primus and Orcus within him, as identified by High Priest Dorn Velmor. This duality is deeply dangerous.
After the trials in Mechanus and the desert, Jaruul woke in Session 74 bearing a new form — a very thin human with black shoulder-length hair and red eyes.

Jaruul had a vision of himself becoming the destroyer of Mechanus under the influence of Orcus:

- Knocked unconscious by Rurik Drenn’s guns in Session 66; later had Kailas haul the dead bandits out the back of the rebuilt tavern
- Struck by a sudden sickness as the Sand Witch left Drar eastward in Session 67 — cold shivers and cold sweats, as though something far to the East was pulling him. Given his bond with Orcus and his vision of becoming the destroyer of Mechanus, the pull is an ominous sign
- The eastward pull intensified across the desert in Session 68 — recurring dread and nausea on the 10th of Undilar, then a strong pull toward a distant rock formation on the 11th, which he blamed on Korin’s navigation to convince Kailas to follow
- Led the party to the The Buried Chamber — sensing a dark force, he insisted on entering and teleported inside when stopped. He conjured a magical barrier (dispelled) and kept slipping free of restraint until Korin held him with Hold Person and Sneid Arkmos gagged him; Kailas carried him off as Dristuul protested “Unhand my client!”
- Refused to stay down in Session 69 — through the cave battle, Sneid Arkmos tried relentlessly to put him to sleep, but Jaruul kept resisting as his teammates hauled him back to his feet
- Found a piece of glass in the cave, tied to the mirror riddle that Sneid Arkmos solved
- Discovered the opulent door — was the first to find a magnificent door carved with an opulent figure, and later had the golden key drop directly onto his head when Dristuul lit the final brazier
- Felt pulled toward the submerged coffin in Session 70 — jumped into the glassy pool and forced it open with the vampire; found another shard of the Wand of Orcus, which merged with his previous shard. A voice entered his mind, agreeing to give him power. Dristuul pulled him back with darkleap
- Woke possessed in Session 71 — grinning, asking “Who do we have to kill?” A Synaptic Static erupted. The party fought the entity controlling him. Korin’s “Halt!” froze it; Jaruul tried to flee. Sneid Arkmos knocked him unconscious
- Met Primus in Mechanus while unconscious — the supreme authority of Mechanus confronted him, asking what had become of him. Primus’s prophecy: “A great war is coming; Jaruul will either rule Mechanus… or destroy it.”
- Woke and pleaded his case in Session 72 — explained that the Wand of Orcus in his hands could save Mechanus, that he was special and the only one who could touch it safely, and that the possession was a side effect of proximity to the other shards
- Performed an improvised ritual to contact Primus — after one failed attempt, the second succeeded. Primus spoke in riddles, confirming Jaruul was special and that his decision was his own, no right or wrong choice
- Decided to leave behind the Wand of Orcus after a long rest — choosing to abandon the shard rather than risk losing control again
- Disguised himself as “Tonderella” in Session 73 — a beautiful elven woman promised as a wife to guard Kegfoot to smooth the party’s entry into Dravenmere (after Dristuul refused to help with the scheme)
- Persuaded Kegfoot to pay for everyone’s rooms at The Brass Kettle Inn, then stayed out drinking with Nyxara for another hour of “girl stuff”
- Woke transformed on the 15th of Unndilar (Session 74) — Korin found him a very thin human with black shoulder-length hair and red eyes; when Dristuul asked for an introduction he fled and joined Sneid Arkmos, eventually convincing him he was still Jaruul
- Helped price a skyship with Kailas and Dristuul
- Was introduced as Dristuul’s partner to Torvek Dun outside the Drun Logistics Guildhall
- Took the malfunctioning service elevator in Session 75 with Snide and Dristuul — it carried them deep into the mountain, dropping them into the hidden Riverworks. Unharmed, they followed the path instructions from Peltin’s clue

- Rushed to the cavern alone in Session 77 — came down the elevator in a hurry, grabbed Korin’s hand, and dragged the party to the cave tunnel where Sneid Arkmos was, filling them in on the Cradle attack and that Dristuul had stayed upstairs
- Helped seal the cavern ambush in Session 76 — with Dristuul, finished off the last member of the second search party in the Riverworks
- Sent down the elevator alone in Session 76 — Dristuul jumped out right after pulling the lever to slip away, leaving Jaruul to descend by himself
