Session 14 - Welcome to Vokarth

The party finally reached Vokarth Academy, but a grand dinner took a dark turn.

Summary

Ariameia appeared to not have slept for days
Sly stayed at the mansion (raccoons are not welcome at magical academies, apparently)
Entered Brennan’s teleportation circle; Ariameia recited the magic phrase while holding the portrait
Greeted by hostile guards — the visit was unauthorized
Loryn Vethas calmed the guards and welcomed them, recognizing Ariameia
Vokarth Academy exists in a pocket dimension that travels through the material plane
Thalorin Dreyne, the academy director, received them in his office
Invited to the start-of-year gala dinner — accepted enthusiastically for the promise of a grand feast
After dinner, a dance. The group split up. Ariameia was seen following Professor Loryn. Theros and Jaruul followed stealthily.
Theros overheard part of Loryn and Ariameia’s conversation — Loryn seemed to be planning something sinister
Loryn did something to Ariameia that left her body limp
Loryn used Dimension Door to teleport away
Theros alerted the director. Brennan and Thalorin rushed to Loryn’s office.
A hidden mechanism under Loryn’s desk revealed a stone staircase
Found a room with surgical instruments, eviscerated bodies, and Ariameia unconscious while Loryn conjured a spell
Kailas Fyrn, a goliath who had been tortured by Loryn, broke free from his restraints and joined the fight
(Side note: Dristuul reached second base with a ginger. Priorities.)
