Pyremaul

A massive red-iron maul with a visibly burning head. Legendary Vestige of Divergence.

History

• Found in Moelwyn’s shop “Moelwyn’s Marvelous Mysteries” in Palebank Village, encased in a trapped glass case
• Kailas and Korin broke the glass case to retrieve it; Kailas claimed it as his weapon

Awakening

• Awakened through a trial by fire in Session 38
• Kailas wore the ring of Tiamat and was transported to an island surrounded by lava
• He fought flaming wisps, fire giants, and a giant statue of himself
• Was transformed into a plant multiple times during the trial
• Defeated the statue and caught the awakened Pyremaul
• Afterward, Kailas couldn’t remove Tiamat’s ring — Theros cast Sleep on him while Moelwyn and Korin removed it

Notable Uses

• Used by Kailas to light the way through the mountain mine caves (Session 43)
