Black Senate
A secretive and powerful organization with connections to both Dristuul and Aldur.
Overview
The Black Senate is a clandestine organization whose full purpose and structure remain largely unknown. Members gain power through their affiliation. High-ranking members are distinguished by wearing masks — a detail Dristuul is aware of.
Known Members
| Name | Status | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Dristuul | Former member | Left the organization |
| Aldur | Active | Joined a couple of years ago; low-ranking; travels for the org |
| Robin | Deceased | Killed by Dristuul in Session 63; the wider organisation only knows him as missing |
| Lesha | Active | A figure of some standing in Drar; already knew Dristuul was in the city and is wary of him after Robin’s disappearance |
| Silk | Active | Red-skinned tiefling; old friend of Dristuul with a romantic history. Reappeared in Session 64 to broker information |
| Whisper | Unknown | Aldur doesn’t remember them |
| Porcelain mask woman | Active | High-ranking (wears a mask). Aldur fancies her |
Details
- Aldur confided his membership to Dristuul in Draconic during a night watch, so others wouldn’t overhear (Session 56)
- Dristuul revealed he had also been a member but left the Senate. He warned Aldur to be careful.
- Theros later overheard their Draconic conversation about the Black Senate using Comprehend Languages and confronted Dristuul about it.
- Only high-ranking members wear masks — Aldur is not high enough to wear one.
- The Senate is governed by a code “older than all of us” (Silk, Session 67). When a member falls under suspicion, others may vouch for them; without a voucher, the code prevails. Lesha could not break the code to protect Dristuul, siding instead with her years-long trust in Robin — the apparent cause of Dristuul’s exile.
- In Session 62, Robin was spotted at the Coiled Fang in Drar by Vex, who told Dristuul that Robin had been waiting for someone and left with them about 20 minutes before Dristuul arrived.
- In Session 64, Silk sought out Dristuul in Drar, confirming that word travels fast in the Senate: Lesha already knew he had returned to the city, and Robin’s disappearance had made her wary of him.
Relationships
- Dristuul — Former member who left and now warns others about the organization.
- Aldur — Active member, relatively new and low-ranking.
- Theros — Overheard the conversation; now knows about the Black Senate.
Connections to Other Groups
- The Cradle — The relationship between the Black Senate and The Cradle is unknown. However, Robin (a Black Senate member) was being hunted by Sneid Arkmos for information about The Cradle, suggesting at least some overlap or contact between members of the two organisations.
