Cobalt Soul
The Cobalt Soul was a major institution of knowledge and investigation, located in Rexxentrum. It was entrusted with one of The Five Rings of Tiamat as part of the post-Calamity effort to keep the rings separated. The Cobalt Soul was destroyed along with Rexxentrum when Kallum led a devastating dragon assault on the city.
Role as Ring Guardian
After The Calamity, Tiamat’s soul was split and forged into five rings. These rings were deliberately scattered to prevent their reunion:
- 3 rings were hidden across Tal’Dorei
- 1 ring was entrusted to the Cobalt Soul
- 1 ring was secured within Vokarth Academy
After Vespin Chloras’s defeat, the ring held by the Cobalt Soul remained in their custody alongside the one at Vokarth Academy, while the other three ended up in the hands of Moelwyn, Ishanah, and Kallum.
Destruction
The Cobalt Soul fell with Rexxentrum when Kallum attacked the city with a flight of dragons — a blue dragon, a red dragon ridden by Kallum himself, and a black dragon. The party was aboard a ship heading to Rexxentrum from Zadash when the assault began, witnessing the destruction from the water.
The party had been planning to travel to the Cobalt Soul as their next destination. Moelwyn later confirmed that the Cobalt Soul has fallen.
The Fate of Its Ring
The status of the ring that was held by the Cobalt Soul is currently unknown. Its loss in the destruction of Rexxentrum represents a significant danger — the ring may now be unguarded and vulnerable to recovery by Kallum or other agents of Tiamat.
