Role in the Campaign
Seraphine is the mother of Kailas. She became pregnant with Emperor Corvin Thorian’s child outside the sanctioned royal bloodlines and was persecuted for it, forced to flee the Empire before Kailas was born.
She eventually settled in Westholt with a man named Garrik, who raised Kailas alongside his own biological son. For most of his life, Kailas did not know the truth of his parentage. Shortly before he left Westholt to adventure, Seraphine finally told him that Corvin Thorian was his biological father and that she had been hunted since before his birth. It was the last time Kailas saw her.
Her name and survival were revealed in Session 64 by Aldric Voss, a former soldier who once served Corvin as a loyal friend. When Kailas let slip more than he intended, Aldric froze and spoke her name:
“Seraphine — she lived after all.”
The reaction suggested Aldric had believed Seraphine dead, and that her survival carried real weight for him. Her current whereabouts remain unknown.
Relationships
- Kailas — Her son. She raised him in Westholt without revealing his lineage until just before he left.
- Corvin Thorian — The emperor who fathered Kailas with her, setting the tragedy in motion.
- Aldrick Voss — A loyal friend of Corvin’s who knew of Seraphine and believed she had died; visibly moved to learn she survived.
